What are Spices?


Spices are considered the backbone of delicious food. Seeds, flowers, roots, stems, trees, or bark of plants are the source. We can say that spice is a part of the plant that exists in powder to enhance the taste. 

Common & Useful Spices:

1.                  Cinnamon (Ceylon cinnamon):

Scientific Name: Cinnamomum Verum):

It has different species are as follows:

  • Cinnamomum cassia.
  • C.loureiroi.
  • C.burmannii.
  • C.citriodrum. 

Use cinnamon & lose weight:

When the water boils, add a stick of cinnamon. When two glasses of water are left, take them out in a cup. Finally, mix a teaspoon of honey & drink it and become slim smart in a month.

2.                  Cardamom:

Scientific Name: Elettaria cardamomum.

It is a versatile spice. It is known as the ‘’Queen of Spices’’.

  • Green Cardamom:

It is sweet and used in beverages e.g., cardamom syrup, Jam-e-Sheerin, etc. 

  • Black Cardamom:

It has a smoky taste. It is an essential spice for rice and curry.

Medicinal Effect:

The cardamom helps in proper digestion. Boil water, add green cardamom, and take steam. It is about to be the better way of the steamer.

3.                  Caraway Seed:

Scientific Name: Carum carvi:

The amount of fiber in it is high. Its seed has a magical effect. Following diseases to help maintain good health.

  • Constipation.
  • Digestive Accuracy.
  • Lowering Cholesterol.

200g seeds 76g fiber.

Oil is considered better for health. It contains the following volatile compounds.

  • Cumuninic.
  • Aldehyde.
  • Pinene.
  • Carvone.
  • Limonene.
  • Carveol.

The features found in them are as follows:

  • Digestive.
  • Carminative.
  • Antioxidant
  • Anti-flatulent.

Seeds contain a wealth of vitamins & complex vitamins.

Simple Vitamins:

  • Vit A.
  • Vit E.
  • Vit C.

B-Complex Vitamins:

  • Thiamine.
  • Pyridoxine.
  • Riboflavin.
  • Niacin.

4.                  Clove: 

The best source of antioxidants. These compounds help the body fight free radicals that damage your cells and cause disease. Antioxidants found in cloves reduce the risk of diabetes, cancer, and heart disease by removing free radicals from the body.

Clove act as Medicine:

Put cloves in a cup of plain water. It can help improve saliva production, which digestive processes work. It helps to increase gastric secretion. It solves abdominal pain and excess gas. It contains a wealth of anti-inflammatory compounds. They are useful in the treatment of: 

  • treating sores. 
  • coughs. 
  • colds.
  • throat.

5.                  Turmeric: 

Scientific Name: Curcuma longa.

It is a source of curcumin. It is known as ‘’Golden Spice’’. The roots of Curcuma longa is the source of it. The turmeric tree contains berberine chemicals. The Curcumin is helpful in the treatment of:

  •  Inflammation.
  • Metabolic syndrome.
  • Degenerative eye condition.

 It has a beneficial effect on curing acne. When does acne appear? When hair follicles become attached to oil and dead skin cells.

Recipe 1: Fruit Barfi: 

When making banana jelly, add seasonal fruits to it. Chocolate melts it and keeps it in the fridge. When frozen, cut into square pieces. Fruit barfi is ready to eat.

Chocolate:

It is made from seeds and is rich in nutrients. Dark chocolate is high in cocoa. It is high in zinc, which is responsible for activating about 300 enzymes & boosting metabolisms.

The flavanol content can stimulate the lining of the endothelial arteries and the production of nitric acid. A compound that sends signals to relax the arteries & reduces resistance to blood flow. It causes in lowering of blood pressure.

Recipe 2: Semolina Pine Apple Pinch: 


The ingredients areas:

  • Oil (1tbsp).
  • Semolina (1 cup).
  • Flour (2 tbsp).
  • Fry it.

Mix a glass of milk and stir for 15 min. Make a triangle of butter paper and pour the mixture into it. Place the small round mold in the frying pan. Pour this mixture into the mold and fry. When cool, apply fresh cream and a piece of pineapple on it. Delicious semolina pineapple pinch.

    • How is Semolina good for health?

It is a source of: -

  •  Protein.
  •  Fibers.
  • Vitamin B.

Soji contains more gluten. Gluten is protein.

* It is used in weight loss.

* Helps to maintain proper digestion.

100 gm semolina = 360 calories.

100 gm semolina = 1.23 mg Iron.

Recipe 3: Rice Chapplie Kebab: 


Step 1:

Grind a little milk in white rice. Keep the paste thick enough to be mixed to make kebabs. Add all the spices and mix well.

Step 2:

Boil chicken in a cup, fry in oil, and grind to a paste. Mix this mixture in a thick rice batter.

Step 3:

Chop an onion, cut into round slices of tomato, make a paste of green chilies.

Assembling Step:

Mix chopped onion & green chili pastes in both the mixture. Check all the spices and shape the kebab. Place the round slices of tomato in the kebab. Place the round pieces of tomatoes in the kebab. Fry them without coating.

To Make Tamarisk Sauce:  

In a frying pan add a tablespoon of ginger paste, fry & tamarind pulp, with two glasses of water. Mix cumin, almond paste then fry. Mix cornflour in water and add it. When the tamarik sauce thickens, take it off.

Recipe 4: Bhindi Roll:

  • Make a batter by mixing two cups of flour without egg yolk, salt, black pepper. Make a roll in the pan. The chapatti is ready. 
  •  Grind the cabbage and add in a cup of mayonnaise, mix salt & black pepper. Apply this sauce to the chapatti, put penne on it, add cucumber and close the bhindi roll.

Recipe 5: Flour Tikki: 

Wheat chapati cuts into a rounded form like Goll Gappa with the help of a lid. Put ghee, chopped coriander, green chilies, salt in a bowl. Brush on these rounded pieces. Take two eggs, salt, and bread crumbs in it and mix well. On top of the round slice of flour, dip both sides in eggs batter and fry.  

Recipe 6: Leafy Paratha:

Boil spinach leaves in warm water. Peel a squash grated and squeeze the juice. Apply tamarind on the leaves and place the other bread on top. Prepare it and cook it on the stove.
