'Let's enjoy the trip of Ziarat'

Ziarat is located at a distance of three hours from Quetta. The meaning of ziarat is ''Shrine''. It was formed in July before it was part of the Sibi district. It is included in the province of Baluchistan. Its forest covers an area of approximately 110,000 hectares, according to a 2016 report. It is also called the ''Quaid's Residency'' which is covered with lush lawns, popular trees, and flowers gardens is a guarantor of tranquillity. It was built by the British in 1882 and was used by the Governor General's as their summer headquarters.

In 1883, the British government selected Ziarat as a health center. A journey was conducted in Ziarat to explain some of the folk uses of medicinal herbs. The report states that ninety species belong to 35 families which are used by the locals as medicine. These plants such as Onobrychis, Artemisia, Cornuta, and Scoparia had higher negative water potentials while Juniperus exceltata and Sophora alopecuroides had lower negative water potentials. They were observed between October and January.

The amount of chlorophyll inside them decreased and the concentration of proline was higher in O. cornuta while the concentration of proline was lower in A. scoparia This observation was made between October January. After the snow melted when the drought began and the spring rains in April, the chlorophyll content increased with a decrease in proline. Ziarat has Juniperus excelsa trees and covers 86,000 hectares. In addition, there are Arceuthobium oxycedri and berries which help in flavouring and kidney diseases.

Ziarat is surrounded by many beautiful places for tourism that amaze visitors. At a distance of 14km from Ziarat is a charming ''Zindra' 'which means ''four grinding mills''.   There are interesting places for sightseeing near Nauna Dam. When you go on a road trip, there are three places where people can't stay without staying that is:

The winter in Ziarat is long and severe and lasts from November to March. In winter, the temperature drops below 0C. Rain falls in the form of snow and the spring season occurs in April and May. The summer season begins after June and ends in late August. Rainfall occurs in summer. Its soil is usually shallow and calcareous. Humus is needed for the fertility of the soil which enables it to be cultivated.

Ziarat is known for its botanical value. The locals are using the Aspanacea plant to treat various ailments. The locals depend on the river Narhi and Tass for water requirements. Ephedrine is of great medical importance and is extracted from the herb Ephedra sinica found in Ziarat. This substance is especially used in cough syrup.

1. The root is used in the treatment of diarrhea and is considered to be useful in relieving chest infections.

2. It is propitious in the cough of humans and animals.

3. Its branches are used as fuel.

 

Descurainea Sophia.

1. It is useful in the medication of chronic fever.

2. It is effective in diarrhea.

3. It is considered useful for diabetics.

Ephedra procera fisch.

1. Plants extract is used for cough and asthma.

2. Its wood is also used as fuel.

 

Euphorbia osyridea.

1. The smoke from the leaves is used to repel insects.

2. It is also useful for cattle allergies.

The Juniper excelsa tree is used as medicine. It is considered useful in the medication of cough, cold, asthma, abdominal pains, gleets, gonorrhoea, dropsy, stimulant, carminative, leucorrhoea, and skin diseases and used fruits, leaves, barks, and stem for these purposes. Juniper and berries essential oil are used in many pharmaceutical products, cosmetics industries, and a popular flavouring for gin as well as its wood as a fuel.

During the Eid festival, the locals hold wrestling and shooting competitions. Visiting hotels and dhabas offer local dishes to tourists. Saji is a local dish and popular among people. Local crafts, shawls and other decorative pieces are very popular. Thymus vulgaris, Thymus lineris, Nepela glomerulosa and ziziphora teniour are potential herbal tea recommended in Ziarat. Berberis lyceum, B. callobotrys, B. balochistanicus, Caragna ambigua and Peroviskia abrotaniodies have prospects of economic value.
